ESPN REPORT
Monday
Today we started the day off with morning work. Morning work this week was a fun, St. Patrick’s Day themed packet. It had word searches, math pages, and even language arts sheets!
Then Max, Luke, Blake, and Alex presented their explorer, Vasco de Gama. It was really good, just like all the other ones we already did!
After the presentation, we talked about our story, The Riddle, and about what a folk tale is. Then we got into partners and made our own folk tales and made pictures to go along with them. It was really fun!
After reading, we went to Math with Mrs. Rise. In Math, we graded our study guides for our test tomorrow. Then we went over problems that people didn’t get. We only had a few questions. After grading our study guide, we went over a couple practice assessments. The assessments were over estimating and Greatest Common Factor, with Least Common Multiples in there, too. We went over them because we didn’t do so well on them. L
Next we had our specials for the day, Music with Mrs. Freeman and P.E. with Mr. Colwell. In Music, we worked on our musical, “It’s Gotta Be Jazz!” and in P.E., we did our jump rope for Heart contest, and Matt won, but Hannah got second. For the rest of P.E., we played Kickball, and the blue team won, but the red team did well, too!
After specials, Betsy presented her ESPN report, and had really good details!J Afterward, there was Lunch and Recess, but there was no special lunch. After that, some people had Battle.
When we came back from Recess, we had dear time, as usual. Then we had Science class with Ms. Cotter. In Science, we watched a video about great astronomical discoveries, and the movie was narrated by Bill Nye, the Science Guy! At the end of Science, we had a little time left, so we worked on something.
After Science, we graded our L.A. study guide that was due. The Study Guide was over verbs. It was for our test on Wednesday.
After L.A., we had Social Studies with Ms. McKee. In Social Studies we had a work day for the Heritage Fair. Our section for this week is History. Today we even got to use the laptops! After we were finished, we put away the laptops and had S.H.O.P. S.H.O.P. passed uneventfully, and right before it was time to go, Ms. McKee finished reading The Lorax. Then we went out to the BEAUTIFUL weather and went home, and that was only our first day of the week! J
Tuesday
Today we started the day with our Morning Work packet. After Morning Work, we went to Mass. In Mass our priest was Father Mike. The readings were about how we should do good, and not do evil in our daily lives. When we arrived back in the classroom, we worked on our Folk Tales. We almost all finished them!
After we had reading, we had Math. In Math class, we took our test over fractions. It was pretty hard, but I think we all did well!
When we came back from Math class, we had a little time to work on the Final copy of our “Boots Stories,” that are due on Thursday. When we had finished that, we went to Art with Mrs. Moore. In Art, we started constructing our fish and prepared to Papièr Machè our fish next week. It was really fun!
When we arrived back in Room 106, we had a little time to work on our stories some more. Then it was time for lunch, with Mr. Goodcents, and recess, with the final battles. At recess it was really warm, but it was super windy! We were almost blown away!
Back inside, we were going to have D.E.A.R. time. We all read books until it was time for Science! In Science we read a book about the Sun, and then watched part of a video on Stars.
When we came back from science, we had Social Studies with Ms. McKee. In Social Studies, we graded our Study Guide over Explorers. We had done them for our test on Thursday. Once we had wrapped up Social Studies, we finished our folk tales, and worked on our “Boots Story” until S.H.O.P. During Announcements, Mr. C said that the Battle results weren’t in yet. L All the people who do Battle are crossing their Fingers to see who the winner of each grade is, and who is going to the final Battle!
Once we were due to get out, we burst from the school so we could go and do… HOMEWORK!!!
Wednesday
Today we opened the day with Morning Work, and we had time to work on our packets until it was time for Mass. At Mass, our priest was Fr. Mike, and the Gospel was about how the mother of James and John wanted her sons to have “the upper hand” in heaven by sitting one on Jesus’ Left, and one on his Right.
When we got back from Mass, we went to the 6th grade D.A.R.E. graduation, and the mayor was there! Some 6th graders made speeches, and there were lots of Police Officers there! It was really cool!
Once we got back to the room, we started to grade our spelling packet, and we went to Spanish. In Spanish, we graded our Worksheet that was due. We also wrote sentences about a frog using adjectives and colored the image. We used crayons, and it was really fun!
When we got back from Español, we graded the rest of our spelling packet, not to mention our reading packet and vocab unit, with flashcards. Once we finished that, we were going to lunch, and out to Recess! J At Lunch there was no Special lunch L… but there was great weather at recess, (Not counting the wind and clouds) and, once we got inside, we had D.E.A.R, we all read books.
Then it was time for Math and Science, because we didn’t switch this morning because of the D.A.R.E. graduation. In math we went over Practice Assessments, and talked about how B.A.I.Ps. were due tomorrow! (GULP!)
After Math, we had Science. In Science we watched a video about the Sun. We took notes on the video for Extra Credit. We also had time at the end of Science to work on something.
Once we arrived back in our room, we took our L.A. test, and the test was over verbs. The test took a while because it was pretty long. It had SEVEN sections! Once we were all done with the test, we got out laptops and started working on our citations for the Heritage Fair. We only had a few minutes, so hardly anyone finished.
After that, it was S.H.O.P. time. We all worked on our homework, and went out to our lockers to pick up our stuff. Once we did all that, we packed up our stuff, Mick and Adam did Pit Crew, and we went out to the very blustery day so we could finish all our homework.
Thursday
Today we all started out the day with morning work, and all chatted amongst ourselves about our plans for spring break. We all were doing something fun, even if we were staying home! On announcements, Mr. C prayed an Irish blessing. It was really cool! After that, we took our spelling test. Then we took our reading test over our story, The Riddle. Then we went to . It was really cool! After that we went to P.E. and Music. In music we worked on our musical, and in P.E. we played dodgeball and the bowling pin game. When we were finished, we went back to our room for a few minutes, and then went to lunch. When we got out to recess, it was really nice out. We came back inside for DEAR, and then went to Math and Science. Once we finished that, we took our social studies test! It was pretty hard. Once we all finished, Ms. McKee let us watch the KU game! We enjoyed it until the end of the day, and then we went home to enjoy our wonderful Spring Break (or finish BAIPs!)
